The delicious hand-dyed colors that Malabrigo is famous for are translated to a soft, fine wool yarn called simply Sock. It is 100% Merino wool, the softest wool there is, and has been treated so it can be machine washed. Yes, it is great for socks, but don't overlook it for lace scarves, baby clothes, and shawls. One skein makes a typical pair of women's crew socks.
