Grab your needles and whip up this easy stocking cap in no time! Our own Wendy Kim-Luellen designed it so just one skein of Caracol makes the hat and its enormous pom-pom. The hat is knit in the round but you don't need any advanced skills to make it. It is knit from the bottom up with a ribbed edge and stockinette body. And did we mention the giant pom-pom on the top?
The Simple Square-Topped Cap is knit using Malabrigo's Caracol. This is a hand-dyed yarn made of 100% superwash Merino wool. It combines two different plies--a thick, puffy one that gives the yarn volume and a thin one that wraps the puffy ply and binds the fiber together. It adds texture and creates a "criss-cross" look in the yarn. Caracol is soft and warm enough for even the coldest days. It is a super-bulky yarn that is knit here at 3 stitches per inch.
The kit includes the yarn and pattern. You will also need:
We knit our hat in Caracol color 90 Guyunusa. If you would like to use this color, simply order the kit above. If you would like a different color, please see our Caracol page for the options. Then return to this page, order the kit, and tell us in the box above which color you would like.
