Temples are used to keep your fabric at a consistent width during weaving, which leads to less draw-in and more uniform selvedges. The metal temples are adjustable in length in increments of 5/16". There are eight teeth in the 1 1/2" width and the teeth angle down toward the fabric at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. The metal temples weigh more than similarly sized wooden temples but are extremely heavy-duty.
