Lace, when set loosely, creates an open, airy look. For our bathmat, we picked a beefy yarn and then set it closely (8 epi), for a deep, distinct texture but not open lace. The mat begins with a plain weave border to be turned under for hemming. Then the lace pattern begins. It is an easy-to-remember sequence for speedy weaving. Another plain weave border finishes the weaving. Wash it, hem it, block it, and you are ready to put it your bathroom or give it as a gift.
