Plain weave is a simple, durable structure and so easy to dress up with color-and-weave effect. In this set of towels, three colors of 8/2 unmercerized cotton are sett at 20 epi and striped evenly in the warp. The weft is also striped, but in a different order, so the effect is a pattern much more complicated looking than it really is. The weft stripes are very narrow, so you use three shuttles and carry the unused yarns up the side. No tails to weave in! The three towels share the same border colors but each has a different color for the center section. All three are woven on a continuous warp, then the fabric is washed, the towels are cut apart, and the edges are hemmed. The kit makes three towels of approximately 15.75" x 22.5", hemmed. The towels can be machine washed and dried. Ironing is optional.
