INTRODUCTION TO TAPESTRY WEAVING

Aug. 29-30 (Sat.-Sun.) 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. 2 days

Tapesty weaving can be done on a frame, rigid heddle, or harness loom. We will work on rigid heddle and harness looms to create a small tapestry. Using slit and diagonal techniques, we will weave a design based on a simple illustration. Bring your own pre-threaded loom or sign up to rent one of ours. Rental price includes pre-threading. You will need 3 colors of Nature Spun Sport yarn for your weft. By Bea Bonanno.

(or bring your own loom, following the threading instructions below)

Please purchase your class supplies before the first day of class. You can order it online. Just be sure to include a message that we should hold the yarn at the store to pick up during class. We will apply the class discount and remove the shipping fee.

THREADING INSTRUCTIONS: Please bring a fully assembled loom in good working condition with a 7.5-dent or 8-dent heddle. Using 8/4 carpet warp or 3/2 perle cotton (color doesn't matter), measure a warp that is 1.5-2 yards long for 64 ends. Thread your loom one end per slot and hole (about 8" wide). On a harness loom, thread for tabby. Tie-on and wind the warp onto the back beam using warping sticks, heavy paper or corrogated cardboard.

PARKING: The parking garage is located at 927 New Hampshire Street. Top level parking is free. Level 2 parking is $2.00 to park 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
