The crochet class listed below is suitable for crocheters who have been actively crocheting and would like to expand their technical skills. If you know how to crochet, but it has been a few years since you picked up a hook and yarn, plese take the Introduction to Crochet class first.

My First Crochet Sweater-- Dona Cardigan

Feb. 11 (Wed.) 6-8 p.m. 6 sessions, skip 2/25, 3/18

Your first crochet sweater will be the Dona Cardi designed by Maria Collarte ($9). The Dona Cardi is worked sideways in one single panel with stitches that look like knit stitches. You will learn how to crochet short rows, raglan shaping, and crochet intarsia if you choose to go with a 2-color version. We recommend one of our new yarns by Berocco called Aurelia, a cloudlike cotton/wool blend yarn. By Rebecca Cook.

• Download and print the Dona Cardigan pattern ($9).
• Approximately 1300-2100 yards of an Aran or worsted weight yarn like Berocco's Aurelia.
• 6.5 mm crochet hook or whatever size to get the correct gauge
• Locking stitch markers
• Blunt tapestry needle
• Measuring tape
• Scissors

PARKING: The parking garage is located at 927 New Hampshire Street. Top level parking is free. Level 2 parking is $2.00 to park 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Street level and basement level parking is limited to 2 hours. Pay stations are located at each stairwell on the street level. Sunday parking is free downtown.
