Detailed Description

"A sunflower field is like a sky with a thousand suns." --Corina Abdulahm-Negura

Cheryl Murray, noted for her designs in Vogue Knitting, has created this cowl exclusively for us at the Yarn Barn. The sunflower is the official flower of Kansas and a cheery sight in fields and gardens throughout the state. In the middle of winter, when your neck is cold and your spirits are low, put this cowl on and know that summer is coming! The cowl is worked in the round, with corrugated ribbing on either end. The colorwork is done using the Fair Isle technique following a full-color chart. The finished dimensions are 25" around and 9.5" high.

The Thousand Suns Cowl is knit using Cascade Yarns' Cascade 220. It is a 100% wool yarn that comes in lots of colors, including naturals, brights, pastels, and darks. It is a true worsted weight yarn and knits here at 4.75 stitches per inch in stranded stockinette. It can be hand washed and dried flat.

For this project you will also need:

  • 24" circular needle in US size 8 OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
  • 1 stitch marker
  • tapestry needle

We also have the kit available in several different colorways.
