Who doesn't love a plaid? Especially this modern one that throws traditional tartan colors out the window! It is woven in plain weave and is ideal for a rigid heddle project. The yarn is one of our favorites for knitting--Rowan's Felted Tweed--but it is also wonderful for weaving. Felted Tweed is a blend of 50% Merino wool, 25% alpaca, and 25% viscose fibers with a slight fuzzy halo and a soft hand. The finished dimensions for the shawl woven on a rigid heddle loom are 14" x 92". You can also weave it on a loom with harnesses but expect your scarf to be 70-75" long. It can be hand washed and dried flat.
You will need:
- rigid heddle loom or loom with 2 harnesses
- 15" weaving width
- 10 dent rigid heddle or reed
- 4 flat shuttles
We wove our sample in colorway Pink Lemonade. We've also created other color combinations to offer. If you would like one of these colorways, simply order the kit using the pull-down menu above. If you would like to choose your own colors, please see our Felted Tweed page to view the options. Then return to this page, order the kit, and tell us your color selections in the box above. Please specify which is the main color, which is the secondary color, and which two are the accents.
