Torr is a study in scale of texture. The striking cable design that goes up the front edges is large and dramatic while a fine pattern of moss stitch makes the background. The back, fronts, and sleeves are all knit flat and then seamed. The edging on the two fronts continues above the shoulders to make extensions that are joined for the back of the collar. The stitch patterns are worked from written instructions. The finished chest measurements are 46.5 (50.5, 54.25, 58.25, 62.25)" with lengths of 28.25 (29.25, 30, 30.75, 31.5)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Rowan gives this Martin Storey design a difficulty rating of 2 out of 4 (straightforward knitting and various shaping techniques.)
Moordale is one of Rowan's yarns made entirely of British-raised fiber. It combines 70% wool and 30% alpaca for a yarn that is lightweight and warm. It shows off textured stitches, like those in Torr, beautifully. Moordale is a sport weight yarn that knits at 6 stitches per inch in the pattern stitch for this project.
