Gradual color change gives this sweater a terrific look from a distance but an interesting textured stitch makes it look nifty up close, too. Refined details like the i-cord cast-on at the cuffs and i-cord bind-off at the front edges give it polish. It is knit in two flat pieces, each from cuff to center back. At the center back, the two pieces are joined using the 3-needle bind-off and the seams are sewn under the arms. The pattern stitch is a 4-row repeat with two of the rows being knit only. Papakolea is designed to be loose-fitting, worn with approximately 6" of ease, but the fronts are not intended to close, so the fit is very flexible. Finished chest measurements are 36 (40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)" with finished lengths of 23 (23, 23.5, 24, 24.25, 24.75, 25.5)". Berroco has given this Donna Yacino design a difficulty rating of intermediate.
Medina is a summer dream, with one warm color flowing into another. It blends 37% cotton with 36% acrylic and 27% viscose for a breathable yarn that makes great warm-weather garments. It is a DK weight yarn but is knit in this project at 7.5 stitches per inch in the pattern stitch. Medina can be machine washed in cold on delicate and dried flat. Due to the print effect, some dye may release during the laundering process.
