At a first glance, Solenn might look like a "plain" sweater, but the fit and feel of the finished garment put it in a different class. The fit is loose but not sloppy, thanks to unique shoulder shaping that combines features of both raglan and saddle shoulders, shaped with double fashioned decreases. The tubular cast on and bind off give a stretchy, invisible edge to the ribbing. Loft is a fingering weight yarn so the sweater is light enough to be a layering piece to take you from fall to spring. The back, front, and sleeves are worked flat from the bottom up in stockinette and then seamed. Stitches are picked up at the neck and worked in ribbing for the relaxed mock turtleneck. The sweater is designed to fit loosely, worn with 8" of ease. Finished chest measurements are 38 (42, 46, 50, 54, 58)" with finshed lengths of 21 (21.75, 23.25, 24, 25.25, 26)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Veronik Avery design a skill level rating of 3 out of 5 (intermediate).
Solenn uses Loft, Brooklyn Tweed's fingering weight yarn spun from US-produced Columbia-Targhee wool. It is a woolen-spun yarn with a soft hand and slight fuzzy halo after wet blocking. In a minimalist sweater like this one, the spotlight falls on the beautiful finished surface that has a light, plush feel. For Solenn, Loft is knit at 6.5 stitches per inch in stockinette.
