BEGINNING RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING. If you like color and texture, then weave with the simple rigid heddle loom, which is quick, popular, and easy. You will learn a fast way to thread the loom and then weave a scarf. If you need a loom, we will have one for you to use and, if you buy one the day of the class, you’ll get a 10% discount on it. If you already own a loom, be sure it is complete, assembled, and in working condition with an 8- or 7.5-dent heddle. By Mary Margaret Eisfelder.

COLOR-AND WEAVE SAMPLER. Sometimes interesting patterns can be the result of color interaction rather than complicated patterns or structures. In this class, you will explore a number of color sequences as you weave a sampler to use as a reference for future projects. The warp will be threaded in three different structures (straight twill, point twill, and plain weave) and you will weave ten or more weft color sequences to see how the color order used creates very different looking patterns even within the same structure. The warp will be pre-measured, but you will warp the loom during class. You will need to purchase 2 mini cones of highly contrasting colors of 3/2 perle cotton when you enroll in class. By Susan Bateman and MaryMargaret Eisfelder.

EASY RIGID HEDDLE RUG. Weaving a rug requires different techniques than weaving a shawl or towel. In this class, you will learn how to warp a rigid heddle loom using a double-stranded warp, how to beat a weft that is much heavier than your warp, and how to finesse those tricky selvedges. You will need to purchase 3 color, 1 each, of 8/4 carpet warp when you enroll in class. By MaryMargaret Eisfelder.

PLAN A RIGID HEDDLE PROJECT. Are you inspired by yarn colors and textures but stymied when it comes to planning a rigid heddle project? Inspiration can get you part of the way but calculating yardage needed, appropriate sett, and allowance for shrinkage and loom waste can be intimidating. In this lecture class, MaryMargaret will guide you as you tackle the math and practical aspects of designing for the rigid heddle loom. By MaryMargaret Eisfelder.

WARPING FRONT TO BACK. This warping technique will be taught both by demonstration and hands-on experience. You will go step by step through the process starting on the warping board and ending up with a project to take with you for additional practice at home. Learn tips for efficient warping, hw to get extra mileage out of a warp and how to tie a new warp onto an existing one without re-threading. Class fee includes the specific items required to warp without lease sticks. You will need to purchase 2 mini cones of natural 3/2 perle cotton ($21). By Susan Hoisington.

OVERSHOT BASICS. If you've woven overshot as a sample or kit but don't quite feel comfortable designing your own overshot project, let Melissa guide you through the process. The basic elements of overshot, appropriate types of yarn to use, and interpreting a draft will be covered. Overshot drafts are widely available in books, magazines, and online and this class will help you understand how to adapt them to your own projects. This is a discussion class rather than a hands-on weaving class. By Melissa Parsons.
