BEGINNING RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING. If you like color and texture, then weave with the simple rigid heddle loom, which is quick, popular, and easy. You will learn a fast way to thread the loom and then weave a scarf. If you need a loom, we will have one for you to use and, if you buy one the day of the class, you’ll get a 10% discount on it. MOORMAN INLAY SCARF The Theo Moorman technique of inlaying a design into your work allows for a creative approach to weaving that is not loom-controlled. You'll place a simple design by hand in your scarf wherever you want and weave the inlay motifs with small amounts of yarn-- textured, variegated, colorful-- to make surface color squares in your scarf. A solid color of Rayon Slub will be the ground color for your scarf. Looms will be pre-warped so you will need to purchase your yarn at enrollment. Bring your stash yarn for the inlay areas; DK weight or heavier is best. By Susan Bateman.

STAINED GLASS LOG CABIN SCARF ON A RIGID HEDDLE LOOM. Color-and-weave with two highly contrasting colors can create a pretty stained glass effect when woven in log cabin. In this class, you'll learn to measure your warp, thread your rigid heddle loom during class using an alternating dark/light combination of colors, and how to weave with two shuttles. Please let us know if you plan to bring your own loom for the class at the time of enrollment. For this class, you'll need an 8-dent heddle and get to select your own colors from Cascade 220 Superwash and Malabrigo Rios; both are wool yarns so they will work up into a warm and soft scarf. By Mary Margaret Eisfelder.

LENO LACE SAMPLER. Learn the art of finger-controlled weaves by making a sampler. Your sampler piece will include Danish Medallions, Leno, Brook's Bouquet, Spanish Lace, and Hemstitching. This is an ideal class for both rigid heddle weavers and standard loom weavers. Please let us know if you plan to bring your own loom-- we'll provide you with the threading draft so you'll have your pre-warped loom ready for class. You'll need a 10-dent reed and use 3/2 perle cotton in a light color. If you plan to use one of our looms, we'll need to know at the time of your enrollment and your color selection for the class at least 2 weeks prior to class to give us time to thread. For use of our loom and threading there is an additional $20.00 fee. If you sign-up online, please be sure to select the Rental/Threading item XX-CLASS-W24M.
