Wave Lace Tunic in Pure Wool DK
Sue McCain has designed this sweater with an overall texture that looks like waves that sometimes travel diagonally and sometimes vertically. The stitch pattern is a 12-stitch, 16-row repeat that is written out. The sweater is knit from the bottom up, first flat in two pieces to allow for the side vents and then joined for the main body. At the armholes, the stitches are divided and the front and back are worked separately. They are rejoined using a 3-needle bind off. The sleeves are knit from the bottom up and then sewn in place. The neckband is worked in garter stitch from stitches picked up and knit from the neck edges. The sweater is available in eleven sizes, with finished chest measurements of approximately 28 (32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68)" and lengths of 24.5 (24.5, 25, 25.5, 25.75, 26, 26, 26.25, 28.14, 28.5, 28.5)".
This sweater is designed for a DK wool yarn so we are kitting it in Rowan's Pure Wool DK. The smoothness of the yarn makes it a perfect choice to show off pattern stitches like the ones in this sweater. It has a springy feel, so it is easy on the hands while you are knitting. Best of all, your sweater can be machine washed on gentle and dried flat.
The kit includes the pattern and the yarn. For this project you will also need:
