Textured V-Neck Vest in Cotton Fleece
There is nothing wrong with a plain vest or one with cables, but we were struck by this vest by Sue McCain that has a surprisingly modern vibe thanks to the geometric stitch used. The back and front are knit separately using the same furrow stitch, which is both written out and charted. The pieces are assembled and then stitches picked up and worked for the armhole edging and neckband. The vest comes in 11 sizes with finished chest measurements of 30 (35, 39.5, 44.5, 49, 54, 59, 63.5, 68.5, 73, 78)". Finished lengths are 21 (24.5, 25, 25, 25.5, 26, 26.5, 27, 27.5, 27.5, 28)".
This vest is designed to be used with worsted weight yarn so we are kitting it using Cotton Fleece. Made by Brown Sheep Company in Nebraska, Cotton Fleece is a blend of 80% Pima cotton and 20% Merino wool. The cotton keeps it cool but the wool gives it a little extra resilience. It is soft, durable, and doesn't pill. Your vest can be hand washed and dried flat.
The kit includes the pattern and the yarn. For this project you will also need:
- single pointed needles in size US 7 OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
