A little texture can give a nice lift to a simply shaped sweater. This one sports the texture on the front and back but leaves the sleeves in stockinette. The texture starts right at the lower edge--no ribbing--and continues to the slash neck with no shaping at the waist and only a little at the shoulders. The sleeves are knit flat and then sewn in place. The finished chest measurements are 36.75 (43.25, 47, 50, 53.5, 56.75)" with lengths at the back of 21.75 (22.5, 24, 25.25, 26, 26.75)". This sweater can be hand washed and dried flat.
If you haven't tried Willow, you should! It is a lofty, loosely spun yarn that is 94% Merino wool and 6% nylon. Because it has so much volume, it knits at a bulky gauge without much weight and the air trapped within the yarn makes for a warm fabric. It comes in heathered colors with subtle flecks of contrast color. And did we mention how soft it is?
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
- single point needles in US size 11 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)
- single point needles in US size 10.5
- stitch holders
- stitch markers
- tapestry needle
