The Strauch skein winder lets you make a reeled hank from yarn on a cone or spinning bobbin. The arms expand like those of an umbrella swift and, once the size you want is decided, the position is locked into place with the adjusting ring. The crank handle on the top lets you turn the skein winder to wind the hank on. It can also be used as an umbrella swift to hold a skein as you wind it into a ball with a ball winder. The skein winder is completely collapsible. The top knob can be removed and the arms folded in. The three legs can also be removed for even more compact storage. The top knob stores under the base so it can't be lost while the skein winder is collapsed. The Strauch skein winder measures 42" high and is made of oak. The wood is finished with a Watco penetrating oil finish.
