Like macaroni and cheese or a fire on a cold night, Snoqualmie is designed for maximum comfort. It is a classic cardigan with an all-over cable design that looks complicated but is really an easy-to-remember 16-stitch repeat worked from a chart. The back, fronts, and sleeves are worked separately and then joined. Stitches are picked up at the front and neck for the collar and button band. Snoqualamie is designed to be worn with 7-9" of ease. Finished chest measurements are 39.25 (41.5, 45.75, 48, 52.25, 54.5)" with finished back lengths of 27 (27.25, 28.5, 28.75, 30, 30.25)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Michele Wang design a skill level rating of 4 out of 5.
Snoqualmie uses Brooklyn Tweed's Quarry. Quarry is a chunky-weight wool produced entirely in the US. It is spun to imitate the look of an "unspun" single ply but has greater strength and durability. It is lofty, with tiny pickets of air within the yarn that trap warmth while still being very lightweight.
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
- single point or 32" circular needles in US size 10.5 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)
- 47" circular needle in size 10
- stitch markers
- stitch holders or waste yarn
- cable needle
- 5 buttons, 1.25"
- t-pins for blocking
- small amount of firmly-spun worsted weight yarn in similar color for seaming
- tapestry needle
Snoqualmie is shown in Quarry color 245 Gypsum. If you would like your sweater to be in this color, order the kit above using the pull-down menu to select your size.
