Simple, classic, versatile. Riverbend is a boxy, casual cardigan that can top off a variety of looks. It has a shaped hem that dips toward the back and a deep V neckline that flatters no matter what collar you are wearing underneath. The garment photographed has reverse stockinette showing as the right side but instructions are given for those wishing to have the stockinette side showing. The body of the sweater is knit from the bottom up in one piece using short rows to shape the curve of the hem. The sleeves are worked separately and sewn on. Stitches are picked up for the button bands. Riverbend is designed to be worn with 4-6" of ease. Finished chest measurements are 35 (39.5, 44, 48.5, 53, 57.5)" with finished back lengths of 23.25 (23.75, 24.75, 25.5, 26.5, 27)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Brooklyn Tweed has assigned this Julie Hoover design a skill level rating of 3 out of 5.
Riverbend uses Brooklyn Tweed's Quarry. Quarry is a chunky-weight wool produced entirely in the US. It is spun to imitate the look of an "unspun" single ply but has greater strength and durability. It is lofty, with tiny pickets of air within the yarn that trap warmth while still being very lightweight.
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
- 32" circular needles in US size 15 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)
- 32" circular needle in size 13
