Riasa is a classic cabled sweater, perfect for an afternoon winter hike or casual dinner out. Its cables, worked on front, back, and sleeves, are worked from a full-color chart. The knitting starts with the lower ribbing, which is 1" longer on the back than the front. The ribbings are knit flat and then joined. From there, the body is worked upwards in the round. The sleeves are also worked in the round and then the caps are worked flat and the sleeves are sewn in. Stitches are picked up at the neck for the ribbed collar. The sweater was designed to be worn with 2-4 inches of ease. Finished chest measurements are 36 (40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)" with lengths at the back of 24.5 (25, 25.5, 26, 26.5, 27, 27.5)". The lower edge is 4.5" wider than the chest measurement. This sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Berroco rates this design by Alison Green as requiring an intermediate skill level.
Riasa uses Berroco's yarn Catena. It is a lofty chunky weight yarn spun from 94% extra fine Merino wool and 6% nylon. It is so light that even oversized sweaters won't weigh you down with this yarn and it is amazingly soft and warm!
