Peaks Island Hood in Highland
Don't settle for a simple scarf when you can wear this combination of hood and scarf designed by Ysolda S. Teague. The hood is shaped to keep it in place on your head, then the tails, one longer than the other to wrap around your neck, button in front to keep your chest warm. It is knit in worsted weight yarn, so we are kitting it in Harrisville's Highland, a 100% wool yarn. The hood is knit beginning with the long scarf end, starting with the pretty shell detail. The majority is knit in seed stitch for an all-over texture. Stitches are increased for the hood, echoing the shell detail at the end. After the hood is completed, the stitches are decreased and the second, shorter scarf tail is completed, working in the buttonholes and ending with a repeat of the shell detail. The buttons are sewn on and the hood is complete. The scarf dimensions are 7.25" x 74", with a hood depth of 15.5"
The Peaks Island Hood is designed for worsted weight yarn, so we are kitting it in Harrisville Designs' Highland. Highland is a 100% wool yarn, dyed and spun in Harrisville, New Hampshire. The color line is extensive, including neutrals, brights, dark, rich colors, and even a few pastels. Most of the shades are heathers, adding depth to the color. Your Highland hood can be hand washed and dried flat.
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
