We love this hat--it is half Maid Marion and half '20s flapper. It is incredibly easy, too because there is no shaping. Designer Norah Gaughan figured out a way to start with a rectangle, fold it, turn it, sew it, edge it, and voila--a hat! It is made using a combination of stockinette and garter stitch in a two-color stripe pattern in Berroco's Ultra Alpaca Chunky. Ultra Alpaca Chunky combines 50% Alpaca and 50% Wool and knits at 3.5 stitches per inch so this cap will be fast and warm. It can be hand washed and dried flat.
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
- one pair each size US 10 needles OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
- safety pins for markers
- tapestry needle
The hat is shown in Ultra Alpaca Chunky #7245 Pitch Black and 7207 Salt and Pepper. If you would like your project to be in this color combination, simply order the kit. If you would like to pick your own colors, see our Ultra Alpaca Chunky page to view the options. Then return to this page, order the kit, and specify your two color choices in the box above.
