For this class, students will need to purchase a smooth, light-colored worsted or bulky weight yarn and the appropriate sized needles for your yarn. Typically, worsted weight uses a US 7-8 needle and bulky weight uses a US 10-11 needle.
Also, a crochet hook roughly same size as needles or slightly smaller, tape measure, and scissors will be used during class.
Using the yarn you purchased, make the following homework swatches:
2 homework swatches:
1. Cast on 20 stitches and knit 4" in Stockinette Stitch (i.e. Row 1: Knit, Row 2: Purl, repeat Rows 1&2). Bind of all stitches.
2. Cast on 20 stitches and knit 2" in Stockinette Stitch as above, ending ready to work a right-side (knit) row. Next row: Knit 5, Purl 1, Knit 10, Purl 1, Knit 3. Resume knitting in Stockinette stitch until piece measure approx. 4" from beginning. Place all stitches on a holder, leaving yarn attached, do NOT bind off.
