This stylish newsboy cap manages to look both retro and current. It can work on a man or woman and on any age. It is knit in the round from the bottom up. Stitches are picked up and knit for the bill, which is a sleeve that holds a plastic canvas insert for stiffness (included in kit). Elastic is included and is inserted within the hem for a snug fit. Instructions are given for using a looping method for a 32" needle but you can also use a 16" circular needle instead. The cap is sized to fit head circumferences of 21.5 (22.5, 23.5, 24.5, 26)". Our kit for this hat uses Cascade 220, a 100% wool yarn in a worsted weight. It can be hand washed and dried flat. Designed by Bekah Knits.
The kit includes the pattern and the yarn. For this project you will also need:
- 32" circular needle in US size 6 (OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE)
- one double or single point needle in US size 6 for 3-needle bind-off
- tapestry needle
The hat can be made in any color of Cascade 220. If you like the green color as shown, simply order the kit above and you will receive color 2452 Pickle Heather.
