Nansen Capelet in Flicker
This smart little capelet can be worn over a dress for a feminine look or with jeans for something a little more casual. The cabled section is worked side-to-side, following a 48-stitch, 20-row chart. When it is complete, the edges are sewn to form a circle. Stitches are picked up along the bottom edge to work the lower ribbing. Along the upper edge, stitches are picked up and worked in ribbing with shoulder and collar shaping provided by decreasing needle sizes and a series of stitch decreases. Finished circumference is approximately 48" with finished length of 21".
Nansen uses Berroco's Flicker, a blend of 87% baby alpaca, 8% acrylic, and 5% other fibers. It is a wonderfully soft worsted weight yarn, knitting at 5 stitches per inch. It is not a plied yarn, but rather a chainette, which gives it extra stretch. An extremely fine silver metallic thread runs through it, giving it a subtle shimmer rather than outright glitz. It can be hand washed and dried flat.
