It looks like you slaved over the color selection on this blanket but the yarn itself does the color work for you! The center part of the blanket is worked in Encore Colorspun, a variegated yarn, while the border uses solid color Encore Worsted. You begin with one mitred square and then build each additional square by picking up stitches from the previous squares. Once the 80 squares are finished, the border is knit using a 6-row repeat and sewn on. The finished blanket is approximately 25" x 30". It can be machine washed and dried.
Plymouth's Encore Colorspun and Encore Worsted have the same fiber content, gauge, and yardage, but different color treatments. Each is a blend of 75% acrylic and 25% superwash wool and can be machine washed and tumble dried. The Colorspun, used for the center rectangle of the blanket, is variegated, while the Encore Worsted has solid or heathered colors. With so many to choose from, it is easy to pick a combination for your favorite baby.
