| Felted Double Weave Bag |
| Felted Double Weave Bag
This tall bag works well as a purse or a project bag. The wide handle adds to the stability of the bag and makes it comfortable on the shoulder. You will need 3 colors of Naturespun Fingering and 1 color of Lanaloft Handpaint. The crossed weft colors add nice interest to the felted fabric, giving it a heathered look. This project lets you explore two-layer, tubular, and some unusual tie-on methods. It is a very practical bag with a finished measurement of 10 wide x 15 tall x 2.5 deep plus long wide handle. You will need a 20 weaving width with 4 harnesses and 12-dent reed (24 epi) plus two shuttles. We are happy to customize this kit for you; just pick your 2 colors of Naturespun Fingering plus one variegated color of Lanaloft and call us at 1-800-468-0035 or note them on the "shipping Instructions" on the checkout screen. Please note which Naturespun color you want for the strap. |

| Resist Felting |
| RESIST FELTING? NO WAY!
In a workshop taught by Pauline Verbeek-Cowart, we learned how to utilize felting with resisted areas--and it is so easy to do! First you weave a loosely woven plain weave scarf (extra long) in Felting Pony. For our example shown, wide masking tape was placed geometrically onto the stretched out scarf. In the non-covered areas, a solution of sodium alginate was painted onto the scarf. After drying, the scarf was dipped in alum and then machine washed until felted appropriately. Rinse in a metaphos solution and, voila, youre done. Finished scarf is 7.75 x 75. Resist materials included in weaving kit. You will have left-overs for later use, too. This yarn is available in natural only. |
