Mill End Sample ClubMost of the yarns that we carry are what we call "standard stock" yarns--those that we reorder in the same colors regularly. However, we also have mill end yarns, cone yarns that we are able to purchase as one-time buys. They are typically leftovers from the garment industry or overruns from mills. The quality is high but the cost is lower than standard stock yarns. The yarns we see the most often are cottons, rayons, wools, with some synthetics. Sometimes we find luxury yarns like cashmere blends or silks. The weights are generally more appropriate for weaving but could be multi-stranded for knitting.
If you subscribe to the Mill End Sample Club, you will receive six mailings (one every other month for a year). Each mailing has snips of approximately 8-12 different kinds of yarn, including between 30 and 50 different colors. Cone weights, yards per pound, and fiber content accompany each snip. If you see something you like, you can call us to place your order.
