Long Vest in AventicaThe cabled vest is a classic but this longer style makes it up-to-the-minute as well. The loose fit, longer length, and use of variegated yarn are anything but stuffy. The design combines reverse stockinette, rib, and a 20-stitch, 24-row cable pattern. The cable motif is charted. The vest is knit in pieces, with the back, two fronts, and pocket backs knit separately and sewn together. Stitches are then picked up and worked in rib for the armholes, pocket bands, and front bands. The vest comes in 5 sizes, with finished chest measurements of 38 (41.5, 44.5, 48, 51)". Finished length for all sizes is 30".
Aventica, from Schachenmayr, is a blend of 65% acrylic, 25% wool, and 10% polyamide that doesn't feel at all "plastic." It isn't a plied yarn, but a chainette, with a lofty, slightly stretchy feel. The color is variegated, marked by a long, regular repeat that creates blended color striping. It knits at 4 stitches per inch in stockinette, so the vest will work up quickly. And once it is done, you can machine wash your vest and dry it flat.
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
