Lauren Hat
This close-fitting cap with cabled border was designed by Margaret Santino and done in Cascade 220 Superwash wool. The border is worked first, working side-to side and beginning with a provisional cast on. The pattern for the band follows a written-out 4-row repeat. Once the band is complete and the ends joined, stitches are picked up along the top edge for the crown. It is knit in stockinette stitch with a series of decreases to shape the top. As a finishing touch, decorative buttons are sewn on the band. This hat is available in two sizes, with finished circumference of approximately 21 or 22".
The Lauren Hat uses Cascade 220 Superwash from Cascade Yarns. It is a classic worsted weight yarn of 100% superwash wool. The color line is broad and includes both solids and heathers. It can be machine washed and dried flat.
The kit includes the pattern and the yarn. For this project you will also need:
- 16" circular needle in size US 6 OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
- double point needles in size US 6
- cable needle
- stitch markers
- tapestry needle
- two decorative buttons
