INTERMEDIATE HARNESS WEAVING

The weaving classes listed below are designed for those who have threaded a 4-harness loom, can follow a draft and weave independently.

ONE SPHERE TO RULE THEM. . .

Dressing a loom for shadow weave takes patience and concentration but don't let it bind you to darkness. After all, it is but a passing thing, this shadow . . . and once completed, you will have woven a beautiful shawl. Our Shadowed Spheres is a popular design that we originally made using rayon yarn. We have updated it using our Big Dipper 5/2 Tencel yarn and during class you will wind the warp, dress the loom, and weave with two shuttles. You will need to purchase 1 cone each of two contrasting colors of 5/2 Big Dipper Tencel yarn. By Bea Bonanno.

HAND MANIPULATED AND LOOM CONTROLLED LACE TECHNIQUES

Loom controlled lace and hand manipulated lace is beautiful. This will be a technique class where you will work on a pre-threaded loom in a huck lace pattern and do different treadling sequences to make multiple lace patterns. You will also learn 4 different hand-controlled lace techniques; Leno, Brooks Bouquet, Danish Medallions and Spanish Lace. Get ideas for how to incorporate lace into your weaving projects. We will dress your looms in 22/2 cottolin and provide the weft yarn. No refunds or credit for cancelations after July 11 unless we find a replacement for you. By Olivia Mills.

SHADOW BOXES

The surprise is in the pattern draft! Shadow weaves already feel magical when the intersection of light and dark alternating colors create a fabric that looks like it shimmers and moves. But throw in this extra little sequence in the threading and treadling and you get these surprising little boxes. You will make this table runner using 16/2 linen yarn and learn how to manage 2 colors at the same time at the warping board, dress your loom, and weave with two shuttles. By Katie Werner.
