Intermediate rigid heddle classes require that you have threaded and woven on a rigid heddle loom. All other intermediate weaving classes require that you have threaded and woven on a four-harness loom.

Rigid Heddle Log Cabin 5/12-13

May 12-13 (Sat-Sun), 10-4 pm 2 days
This color-and-weave table runner is the perfect project for a rigid heddle loom. Students will become familiar with a weave structure that will use 2 alternating shuttles and go beyond basic plain weave. If you are planning to bring your own loom, you will need to have an 8 dent heddle. Students will also need to select 2 skeins each of Harrisville’s Highland in a highly contrasting color scheme. Do you have a stash and don’t know what to do with it? Join Ames in a planning session so you can learn how to figure how much you need, how to become inspired with colors, how to choose the right color combinations, what materials you should consider for your end project, and...most importantly...how to sample before you start. Learn a rapid sample system where you can change colors or sett if they don’t come out the way you want. You will have 2 days to play with your yarns and see how others work with theirs--a great learning opportunity. By Ames Hall.

Leno Lace Dishtowel on Rigid Heddle MME 3/4

Mar. 4 (Sun.), 10-4 pm, 1 day
Learn about hand-manipulated leno lace using a pick-up stick to twist and lift your threads on a rigid heddle loom. You will weave a striking and handy dish towel in Perle Cotton while learning this technique. See how the mystery of lace is not so mysterious. You will need a mini cone of 3/2 perle cotton in a light color. If bringing your own loom, you need a 10-dent heddle. By MaryMargaret Eisfelder.

4 and 8-harness Lace Weaves 2/11-12 AH

Feb 11-12 (Sat-Sun), 10-4 pm 2 days

Experiment with four different lace weaves--huck lace, Swedish lace, Bronson lace, and hand-manipulated lace (leno). You will work with a 4- and 8-harness version of each structure. Class will be set up in a round robin format--you will move from loom to loom weaving a sample on each. Draft comparisons as well as useful tips and tricks will be given.
