Holly in Felted TweedWe were blown away by this amazing poncho, created by long-time Rowan designer Kaffe Fassett. Fassett's incredible color sense is on full display here in the intarsia-knit leaf forms knit from 14 shades of Rowan's Felted Tweed. The shaping is simple: front and back panels are worked separately following the charted color placement. The border stitches are picked up and knit for both the front and the back, then the two pieces are joined at the right shoulder. Stitches are picked up and knit flat for the collar. When the poncho is complete, the collar is sewn up and lower side edges are tacked closed to create an armhole above. Three sizes are available, with border-to-border measurements of 28 (32.5, 35)" across the chest and lengths of 31.5 (33, 34)".
Rowan Felted Tweed is a DK weight yarn made of 50% Merino wool, 25% alpaca, and 25% viscose (rayon). The yarn has subtle modulations of color and more pronounced color flecks. The surface is very slightly fuzzy, adding to the luxurious feel. It can be machine washed on gentle and dried flat.
