Hedgehog Crew Neck in Handknit Cotton
Gail Pfeifle designs great kids' sweaters and we fell in love with this hedgehog. He is worked on the front of the pullover using the intarsia method following a color-coded chart. The back is worked using just the main color. After the front and back are joined at the shoulder, stitches are picked up and knit for the 2-color crew neck. Stitches are picked up at the shoulder and worked downward in the stripe pattern for the sleeves. The sweater comes in five sizes to fit 6 months (1 year, 2 years, 4 years, 6 years). The finished chest measurements are 20" (24, 26, 28, 29) with finished lengths of 10.5 (12, 13, 15, 16)".
This sweater is designed to be knit at 4.5 stitches per inch, so we are kitting it in Rowan's Handknit Cotton. Handknit Cotton is a 100% unmercerized cotton yarn for a matte finish and soft hand. It can be machine washed and dried flat.
The kit includes the pattern and yarn. For this project you will also need:
- single point needles in size US 8 OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
- single point needles in size US 6
- tapestry needle
