Early Spring Socks
Janice Kang designed these socks for Crystal Palace Yarns and knit them in Panda Cotton, a blend of bamboo, cotton, and elastic. They begin at the toe, with a provisional cast on. The top of the foot is knit in the lace pattern, while the foot and heel are stockinette. The cuff is worked in the lace stitch and then is topped off with a tubular cast off for a tidy edge and extra stretch. The lace pattern is charted with a 12 round repeat. The socks are sized for a woman's medium foot, approximately size 8.
The Early Spring Socks use Crystal Palace's fingering weight yarn called Panda Cotton. It is a blend of 59% rayon from bamboo, 25% cotton, and 16% elastic nylon. It has an interesting, almost crepe-like texture and comes in solid, dotted, and variegated colors. Feeling more adventurous than mere ivory-colored socks? Why not try a dainty pink dot or bright fuchsia variegated combination? And after you are done with the knitting, your socks can be machine washed on gentle and then dried flat.
