A lightweight sweater like Chenin comes in handy all year around. It works over a summery dress like this one when the air conditioning is too cold and it can layer over a long sleeved shirt in the winter. It is knit in one piece from the top down, beginning at the upper back. It is worked downward to the bottom of the armholes in stockinette stitch with short rows used to shape the shoulders. Stitches are picked up at the front shoulder and worked downward for the two fronts, following a chart for the lace motif. Below the armhole, the fronts and back are joined and the rest of the sweater is worked downward. Stitches are picked up and knit using short rows for the sleeves and worked in garter stitch for the button band. The sweater is knit using Summer Tweed from Berroco. This DK weight yarn blends silk, cotton, and nylon. It is a chainette-style yarn with loft, a supple hand, and elegant sheen. Chenin is designed to be worn with up to 2" of ease. Finished chest measurements (with the cardigan closed) are 33 (36, 39, 42, 45, 48, 51, 54, 57)" with finished back lengths of 21.75 (22, 22.5, 22.75, 23.25, 23.5, 23.75, 24.25, 24.5)". The sweater can be hand washed and dried flat. Designed by Alison Green.
